The Sailing season is approaching fast and I am excited at the prospect of another warm sunny summer down at the point with friends and family. The Club continues to grow with more and more participants in the popular learn to sail program and we are also witnessing a growing number of people signing up for the family membership. The point has always been a community gathering spot for outdoor physical activity and enjoyment for the entire family. Thanks to the generosity of the smith family, we are able to take time out from our busy lives and escape to the point for a swim, a boat ride, a sail, or simply sit and read while the kids play.
Registration for LTS starts this Monday, May 04 and we are expecting classes to fill up quickly. We have also started accepting individual and family memberships for the 2015 season. Please consider joining the club to show your support for the programs and services provided by the Mabou Sailing and Boating Club.
Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you on the docks soon !
With the sailing season approaching we are almost filled to capacity. If you have not registered please do so now to avoid disappointment. This year we are offering Cansail 1-4 levels. Classes start June 30 with adult lessons getting first dibs on the boats. The Junior program will follow with 7 weeks of training. Also, this year we are offering Wednesday night racing! Starting just after supper ~~~~ that's about 5:30 around Mabou, depending on who's cooking and what's for dessert, we'll meet at the point and setup the racecourse. We have about 6 or 7 boats geared up for racing so its going to be fun and competitive. BarBQ and who knows what will follow but we're sure that it's going to be a great place to hang out on Wednesday nights. Make sure you contact us to learn more about how you can get involved in Wednesday night racing. All are welcome.
See you on the water !
The 2014 sailing season will be here soon. We are getting ready for our 2nd year of independent operations and we expect even more interest this year. Last year we had close to 70 kids sign up for the popular learn to sail program and it looks like we will have even more this summer. Keep checking back for the registration date. It's going to fill up fast. We are interviewing for instructor positions in Mid March so expect registration to take place sometime in April. We will post the exact date here as soon as we have our instructors.
The Learn to Sail Program is filling fast with over 55 kids registered to date. We have capacity for 70 kids so get your application in now to avoid disappointment. We have hired two awesome Cansail certified instructors who are totally pumped to get started. I'll post their profile soon. We have recently acquired 2 more boats and the docks have been upgraded with a huge 12x35 floating dock. Don't even think about it, just register and we'll guarantee your satisfaction or your money back.
Adult sailing is now on too so be sure to check that out as well. It promises to be very popular.
Instructor applications are coming in and the list is very impressive. Im so happy to see these resumes and I'm getting very excited about the coming season. I should know very soon who will be teaching in Mabou this summer and I will post the registration information at that time. Stay tuned and don't wait too long to register.
There's a new race happening this year for Sailors. Race the Cape is a race around Cape Breton Island. It's going to be a great event and will no doubt grow to International acclaim. You can be one of the pioneer entries.

Hey there, 2013 is a big year with lots of stuff happening. We are working on the storage building these days....Brrr. The first set of floating docks is done as well. We are looking for good instructors at the moment so please comment if you know someone or apply if you are one. Teaching sailing in Mabou is a lot of fun. I'm hoping that we will start lessons on July 08 and run till mid August. Also hoping to get adults out in the boats this summer as well. It's going to be a very busy summer. Have a great weekend! Weather permitting, we'll be on the slopes tomorrow!
